Elevating On-Air Promotions: A Case Study in Digital Integration

Recently, we partnered with a leading radio group in a top 20 west-coast market to enhance their on-air promotions, specifically their beloved Disney Ticket giveaway campaign. This promotion, familiar to their listener base, had been executed four times a year for several years. However, with our expertise in digital campaigns, we saw an opportunity to take it to the next level.

A Collaborative Effort

The collaborative spirit was palpable as the Program Director, Vice President and General Manager of the radio group teamed up with Vici’s Director of Digital Media, Director of Event Marketing, and Digital Specialist. Together, we set out to extend the promotion's reach beyond the airwaves, amplifying the messaging online to engage a broader audience.

Strategic Approach

Utilizing our Native targeting strategies, we crafted visually compelling ads that seamlessly blended with the digital landscape. These ads mirrored the look and feel of local news articles, capturing attention with an image of a joyful child wearing Mickey Mouse ears and a pirate eyepatch. The tagline, “Get More Happy” at Disneyland, resonated with the spirit of the promotion.

With a total of 525,000 ad impressions deployed across both radio stations, we ensured extensive visibility. We also leveraged their Facebook Radio accounts to target current listeners and those in the top ten zip codes. The goal was simple: encourage listeners to text in for a chance to win a family four-pack of 1-Day, 1-Park tickets to Disneyland® Resort!

Outstanding Results

The results were nothing short of remarkable. Historically, this radio group typically adds about 1,000 new members to their text database per promotion. For this campaign, they achieved an astonishing 9,064 new sign-ups, marking a 30% increase on the AC format and a 36% increase on the Top 40 format.

Moreover, the engagement levels were impressive, with click-through rates between 11-13 times greater than the national average. Listeners were not only excited about the contest; they actively participated, showcasing the effectiveness of the integrated digital strategy.
