Buzzing Success: A Pest Control Company’s Digital Strategy

In a competitive market, a local pest control company sought to expand its customer base by showcasing its expertise in both pest removal and prevention. To achieve this, the company combined digital advertising with local radio promotions, effectively reaching homeowners in need of pest control solutions.

The Challenge

The goal was clear: attract new customers dealing with pest problems and ensure those pests "buzz off" for good. The client needed a robust digital strategy to engage potential customers where they were spending their time—online.

The Strategy

To reach homeowners effectively, we launched a Facebook and Instagram Premium campaign targeting specific demographics. We focused on categories such as:

  • Household Income: Top 25% of ZIP codes
  • Interests: Home Improvement, Pesticide, and Insecticide
  • Pest Types: Ants, Cockroaches, Fleas, Ticks, Mice, Rats, Spiders, Termites, Snails, and Mosquitoes

Additionally, we implemented a Social Mirror campaign to target those interested in pest control products. By using categories like Lawn and Home Pest Control Researchers and Heavy Purchasers of Pest Control Products, we aimed to engage consumers actively seeking pest solutions.

Leveraging a comprehensive list of 484 keywords—including phrases like “pest inspection companies” and “professional pest control near me”—we pinpointed potential customers who would benefit from the client’s services. Using AI and machine learning, we further refined our targeting to engage users who interacted with our ads.

Retargeting played a crucial role as well, ensuring that anyone who had visited the client’s website in the past 60 days received tailored ads. Our collaboration with a local radio station allowed us to tap into its listener database, reaching homeowners online through Custom Audience Matching. The creative content featured a mix of engaging video and single image ads, complemented by a Lookalike Audience strategy to broaden our reach.

The Results

The campaign's success was evident within just five months:

  • Click-Through Rate (CTR): 0.71%, over 10 times the national average
  • Impressions: 1,369,501
  • Clicks: 9,701
  • Post Engagements: 80,693 (including actions like clicks on CTAs and site visits)
  • Post Reactions: 33 (likes and emojis)
  • Conversions: 94 click conversions and 1,728 view-through conversions

Conclusion

This multifaceted approach not only drove impressive engagement but also effectively established the client as a trusted pest control solution in the local market. By blending digital strategies with traditional media, the company was able to reach new customers and reinforce its brand presence.
