Every year, a highly anticipated post-season college football game takes place, bringing together locals and tourists alike to celebrate the tradition with events like a 5K run, a parade, and, of course, the big game. When the organizers sought to increase ticket sales for the event, they turned to Vici Media for a targeted digital strategy

Game Plan: Reaching Football Fans and Travelers

The goal was clear: attract football enthusiasts and dedicated fans of the teams playing in the game. To do this, we launched a Facebook/Instagram Premium campaign aimed at a broad audience of football fans and event-goers. Categories included College Football National Championships in NCAA Division I FBS, Monday Night Football, ESPN College Football, Fantasy Football League, NFL Network, and Tailgate Party, among others

To engage even further, we targeted fans of the specific teams playing in the game, such as University of Louisville Cardinals and USC Trojans football, ensuring we reached those most likely to attend the event. We also used retargeting to focus on people who had visited the event's website in the past 60 days but had not yet purchased tickets. The creative approach utilized video ads to deliver engaging content and drive interest in the event

Results: A Win for Engagement and Ticket Sales

In just one month, the results were nothing short of impressive. The campaign generated a click-through rate (CTR) of 3.23%—which is over 46 times the national average—with a total of 707,560 impressions and 22,881 clicks. The ads spurred 200,168 post engagements (including clicks on calls-to-action, profile visits, and site clicks), 878 post reactions, 103 shares, and 105 comments

The client was thrilled with the results, noting that the campaign "scored major points in generating significant interest and engagement" for the event. Not only did the ads resonate with the target audience, but they also drove ticket sales, ensuring that this cherished local tradition would continue to thrive for another year
